Jupiter Christian Rallies Past St. Edward’s With 7 In The 7th

Staring at the brink of elimination and the end of the season, the Jupiter Christian Eagles dug deep and found the magic within themselves to change their fortunes. The Eagles erased a three-ruin deficit by erupting for seven runs in the top of the seventh inning, stunning the host St. Edward’s Pirates with an 11-7 comeback victory in the Class 1A playoff elimination regional quarterfinal.
Jupiter Christian (10-9) survives and advances to the regional semifinals, a best-of-three playoff series at the Miami Brito Panthers beginning on Friday, May 1st. The Panthers (8-13) also advanced with an upset win, over the Atlantic Christian Sharks (15-3).
Nine straight batters reached base in the seventh, as the Eagles first tied things up at 7-7, and then mashed forward to earn the victory. Harrison Craft got it started with a lead-off single, Stephen Eusey followed with a double to center, and J.D. Whitaker got the rally going with an RBI double that plated Craft, although Eusey was caught out at the plate also attempting to score. But Liam Dlabik walked to keep it going, and Kam Chesney was next with a double that drove in Whitaker and courtesy-runner Christian Tilleson to tie the game.
With all the momentum in their favor, the Eagles seized the final opportunity. Crosby Sateren walked and Brady Gelb put the ball in play and reached on an error that allowed courtesy-runner Jacob Mendez to score the winning run. Kyle Valcich then put the finishing touches on it with a three-run home to center field.
