Eagles Continue To Fly High With Win Over Benjamin

After going 10-11-1 in Manager Kenny Silvestri’s first year with Jupiter Christian in 2024, the Eagles came into the 2025 season with a heightened sense of expectations.

Through just over a week, the Eagles are showing that those expectations have been more than realistic. On Monday afternoon, Jupiter Christian picked up their biggest win of the season so far, a 9-7 victory over Benjamin.

“It was just a really good team win tonight,” said Silvestri. “We had some upper classmen come up with some really big hits at the plate, to carry us offensively.”

One of those seniors was Jaden Kostura, who went 3-for-4, with two runs on the day. Parker Schenck also had two hits, a run and an RBI. Underclassmen DH Crosby Sateren added two hits, a run, and two RBIs.

The Eagles trailed for much of the game, with Benjamin scoring one run in the first, and three more in the second to take an early 4-1 lead. The big blows for the Bucs in the second came from an RBI single off the bat of Johnny Havlicek and a two-RBI base hit from Derek Rubin. Havlicek and Rubin combined for five of Benjamin’s 12 hits.

Facing a three run deficit, the Eagles responded in the top of the third. Sateren doubled, driving in Sean Lehnoff, who had led off the inning with a single. Schneck then tied the game with a one-out single.

Benjamin took the lead again in the fourth with a solo run. The score then stayed that way through the middle innings, until the Jupiter Christian bats again heated up in the sixth. Lenhoff singled to tie the game, and Sateren delivered a two out, two-run triple, giving the Eagles their first lead of the game.

The lead, however, would be short-lived, as the Bucs showed their grit by putting up two runs of their own in their half of the sixth.

With the game tied heading to the seventh, Schenck led off with a base hit, and the Eagles ended up with runners on second and third after an error on a bunt attempt.

Schulz then put Jupiter Christian ahead for good with a triple to right-field.

Camble Ray worked around a single in the bottom of the seventh to secure the win for the Eagles.

The win represented the second time in four games that Jupiter Christian has used late inning heroics to pull out a victory. In their opener, the Eagles were down 6-4, before scoring three runs in the seventh to defeat Royal Palm Beach.

“Our team has just shown early in the year that we have no quit in us,” said Silvestri. “Tonight, similar to some of our other wins, the offense came through when they needed to. It was just a great team win.”

Jupiter Christian will close their week out on the road, with games at Palm Beach Gardens and St. Andrew’s.

For Benjamin, a team that finished 15-11 last year, with a regional quarterfinals appearance, the results have been mixed so far in 2025. The beat Santaluces and Dr. Garcia, while losing to Kings Academy, and the Eagles.

They will head out on the road today to face Jensen Beach, before closing the week out at home against St. Andrew’s on Thursday.
