The Berean Christian Bulldogs are starting to put all the pieces together for how they want this team to go. After dropping its first two games of the season, Berean evened its record with a decisive 8-1 road victory at the Glades Central Raiders on Tuesday evening.
The Bulldogs improved to 2-2 on the season, but, more importantly, all the right things are starting to click for them.
“Today’s game went great. We played great team baseball in every category,” Bulldogs Manager Patrick Moore said. “Our starting pitching is starting to click. Arms are extending deeper in the game, and finding the zone. Things are falling into place offensively, and we’re getting guys on base in every way. We are playing good team baseball, and we’re looking forward to getting deeper into the season.”
Junior Reilly Moore sparked the big day by delivering the winning runs with a big hit in the top of the third inning. After Nicolas De Filippis was hit by a pitch, Moore laced an RBI triple to the right field corner, before then scoring the deciding run on a throwing error.
Moore was 1-for-2 with a walk and two runs. Connor King added an RBI double and scored twice for Berean Christian.
Elijah Brown was dominant on the mound to earn the victory. The junior right-hander allowed one hit while piling up 16 strikeouts in six shutout innings of work.
