Forest Hill Bats Come Alive In Polanco Gem
Luis Polanco threw six scoreless innings and Forest Hill banged out 13 hits in a 9-1 win on the road at Wellington on Tuesday.
Polanco handcuffed the Warriors on five hits while striking out four. He threw 52 strikes in his 88-pitch gem.
“We got a great performance out of Luis tonight,” said Forest Hill manager Russ Milliken. “It was a complete team effort.”
Nicholas Castro, Ryan Gonzalez, Alexander Perez, Julian De Jesus and Yoslanys Martinez all contributed two hits apiece to lead the Wolverines’ attack.
“Had guys bounced back from a big game up in Martin County that went 12 innings (a 2-1 loss),” Milliken said. “Guys were tired, but they were able to come back and really do a good performance.”
The Falcons put the game away with a five-run sixth inning. Martinez got things rolling with a lead-off triple and scored on Castro’s single. Perez followed with an RBI single and Agustine Morales drew a bases-loaded walk. The Falcons added their final two runs on an error.
Forest Hill led 1-0 in the first inning on a single by Perez that drove home Gonzalez, who doubled. That lead held up into the fourth inning when the Falcons added a pair of runs on an RBI-single by Alex Seal and a sacrifice fly from Martinez to extend their lead to 3-0.
Wellington pushed across a run in the seventh inning. Trevor King accounted for the Wolverines’ lone RBI, scoring Thomas Lograsso.
The Wolverines, now 4-3 for the season, look to bounce back when they host Spanish River at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
Forest Hill, which evened its record at 4-4, visits Spanish Hill for a 6:30 p.m. Friday game.
“It looks like we’re bouncing back,” Milliken said. “We’re looking to go out Friday and continue playing good baseball.”
