Trinity Christian Wins Second Straight District Trophy
The Trinity Christian Academy Warriors celebrated another district championship with a convincing 13-2 victory over the Jupiter Christian Academy Eagles on Thursday, in the 2A-14 title game hosted at Santaluces Sports Complex. It is the second consecutive district title for Trinity, and the 14th in program history.
Senior Ricky Gonzalez went the distance on the mound to earn the victory. The right-hander allowed one earned run on seven hits and three walks, while recording seven strikeouts.
The Warriors (15-8) went ahead 2-0 with a pair of runs in the bottom of the second inning, before bursting the game open with five runs in the fourth and another six runs in the fifth that ended the contest via the mercy rule.
Senior Ariel Antigua led the way by going 2-for-2 with a home run and two RBI, while also drawing a pair of walks. Senior outfielder Jan Oquendo also went deep, connecting for a three-run home run in the bottom of the fifth that finished things off.
Junior Chris Carmona was 1-for-3 with two RBI, senior Yardielo O’Neil went 1-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run, while Oscar Diaz and Jose Puig both added two runs each.
Junior Nolan Feyereisen was 3-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a run to lead the Eagles (8-12). Senior Gabriel Roque went 2-for-3 with a triple and a run, and junior Benjamin Dulin was 1-for-4 with an RBI.
