Highlights, Scores and Recaps for Friday, April 1st, 2016

Jack Hay drove in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh for the only run of the game as Saint John Paul II walked off on American Heritage 1-0 on Friday in a 4A-6 game. The win puts the Eagles (8-10) in second place at 5-4 and the Stallions (11-9) in a three-way tie for third place at 5-5. Christian Larson pitched a three-hitter with four strikeouts and one walk. PJ Cimo went 2-for-2.

Lake Worth earned a signature win and scored a rare victory at top-ranked Park Vista, defeating the Cobras 2-1 with a run in the fifth to break a tie. Bryan Matos allowed two hits and struck out three in four innings to earn the win for the Trojans (15-5, 3-3) in a 9A-10 game. The Cobras fell to 14-4 and remain in second place at 4-2. Kenny Otero and Yomil Moysonett (run) doubled, and Angel Diaz had two hits.

Grant Patterson struck out seven in six innings as Palm Beach Gardens held off Seminole Ridge 6-5 in a non-district game. Nick Kashuba went 3-for-3 and Noah Hogue 2-for-2 for the Gators (16-5), who won their fourth in a row.

Royal Palm Beach scored to break a scoreless tie in the top of the fourth, but Wellington came back for two runs in the bottom of the inning en route to a 2-1 win in 8A-12. Ryan Stark allowed four hits and walked one while striking out two in six innings for the win for the Wolverines (13-6, 3-3), who won their fifth in a row. Kyle Black drove in two runs, and Angelo Brunelas had two hits.
