Port St. Lucie Bounces Back With Shutout of Jensen Beach
The Port St. Lucie Jaguars rebounded from their first loss of the season by utilizing a pitcher-by-committee approach to shutout the visiting Jensen Beach Falcons 7-0 on Wednesday night.
Ches Goodman started the game for the Jaguars and tossed three innings, giving up just two hits and striking out four in the process. Dylon Goodrick was next up on the bump. He worked three and a third, fanned three and also gave up two hits. Robert Ocasio closed things out, setting down one of the two batters he faced on strikes.
The Jags seven runs were also a result of a team effort. One and two hitters, Ocasio and Ian Claudio, each knocked in a pair of runs while Leo Horacio and Hikaru Kurasawa both enjoyed multi-hit nights. Rounding things out for Port St. Lucie was Jose Barrios, who scored three runs.
Wade Walton starred for the Falcons, tallying two of the teams four hits in his three at-bats.
The Jaguars kicked off the scoring with a two-run double by Ocasio in the second. They doubled their lead in the fourth when Claudio hit into a fielder’s choice and Horacio was hit by a pitch, both with the bases loaded. They capped off the scoring with a three-run sixth that included a two-run single by Claudio.
The Jaguars are now 7-1 on the season while Jensen Beach falls to 5-4.
