Florida League High School Invitational Recap — March 21st, 2016
When you’re a team looking for even the slightest bit of momentum, tournaments are a great opportunity for you to flex your muscles, throw some heat, and show your opponents what you still bring to the table. Luckily for American Heritage manager Carm Mazza, his Stallion players seem to be well aware of how important these tournaments are, as the team knocked out twelve hits in a 6-2 victory on Monday over the Seabreeze Sandcrabs as part of the Florida League High School Invitational.
In other tournament action, Jupiter defeated Lake Brantley 4-2, Clewiston defeated Escambia by the same 4-2 tally, while Royal Palm Beach fell 5-2 to Timber Creek.
Having lost three straight games entering Monday, American Heritage came out ready to strike from the get-go, scoring two in the first inning after a Jack Campbell RBI double and a one-out sac fly from Michael Maresca. All in all, eight Stallions recorded hits on Monday with four — Jack Campbell, Justin Barney, Jason Fox, and Chris Ferara — each having multi-hit games in the win.
Benefiting from his team’s fantastic showing on offense was Barney, who threw five innings of one-run, four-strikeout ball for the Stallions on Monday afternoon.
