Highlights, Scores and Recaps for Tuesday, February 24th, 2015

Matt Ellmyer pitched six strong innings, striking out seven and allowing five hits and one earned run as Benjamin beat Trinity Chrisitan 5-2 on Tuesday. It was the fifth win in a row for the Bucs, who will play their first district game Friday at John Carroll.

John I. Leonard broke a five-game losing streak to win its second game overall and first in 8A-10 by defeating Santaluces 9-5 after rallying for seven runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Jupiter snapped a two-game losing streak and earned its first win in 8A-9 by beating previously undefeated Seminole Ridge 7-0 behind winning pitcher Mack Lemieux, who went six innings, allowed three hits and struck out eight.

West Boca won its fourth game in 7A-13 and stayed undefeated at 6-0 by topping Forest Hill 9-6.

Pope John Paul II beat its third 4A-13 opponent in a row, this time downing Cardinal Newman 5-2 as Daniel Mayer struck out eight in six innings. The win sets the stage for a key matchup with another district rival, American Heritage, on Friday. Heritage could be looking for its second district win in a row, depending on how the Stallions fare against St. Andrew’s today.
