Palm Beach Seniors Celebrate National Early Signing
There is no greater moment in the college recruitment process than the instant when you sign the dotted line and cement your commitment. Getting recruiting is an exciting and fulfilling moment in a ballplayer’s career, but it can also be a stressful one. So when it all comes to fruition and all doubt is erased, it leaves only the positives to reflect and enjoy.
This past November many of Broward County’s top baseball talent enjoyed this reality, taking advantage of the Early Signing Period to ink their commitment and bask in the glow of completing the recruiting process. Heading this pack was American Heritage-Delray, where six seniors are either signed or committed. Hunter Bowling and Jonathan India are headed to Florida, Chris Canavan to George Washington, Tyler Frank to Florida Atlantic University, Dylan Gordon to Wake Forest and Zach Schneider to Polk State.
Another program that saw a large group sign was at Jupiter. Mack Lemieux signed with FAU, Brock Minich with FIU, Cody Wilson to Palm Beach State and Colin Wojtusik to Indian River State College.
“JHS baseball is extremely proud of all the hard work and dedication these players did to earn the opportunity to play baseball at the next level,” said Jupiter Manager Andy Mook. “We always want to win, but the number one goal is to have our players be able to be at the next level.”
For smaller schools, it can be even more rewarding to see some of their guys move on to the college baseball ranks. An example of this comes in the pair of signees from Lake Worth Christian, Jordan Marrs and Orsen Josephina, both of whom will be moving on to play for Southern University next year.
“I am thankful for the opportunity to play at a Division I school such as Southern University,” said Marrs. “I’m happy that all this hard work has paid off and I can’t wait to work harder for my team this year.”
