Jupiter Christian Cruises Past Berean Christian
For the second night in a row the bats came alive for the Jupiter Christian Eagles as they put up double digit runs to beat an opponent.
The bats have come alive lately as Jupiter Christian has plated 27 runs in the past two games. On Monday, the Eagles put up 13 runs in a 13-3 win over Community Christian and they followed it up Tuesday with a 14-4 win at home over Berean Christian. The offensive outburst is something that Manager David Loud has liked seeing out of his team, and he credits patience for it.
“They are patient at the plate,” Loud said about his team. “They are drawing walks and staying within themselves in the strike zone. Nobody is trying to do too much and they are making solid contact. We are stealing bases and doing the little things better right now and we are piecing them together and getting some big innings finally.”

The Eagles had two big innings in particular at the plate and it all got started right off the bat in the first. Jupiter Christian batted around a time and a half in the first inning seeing all nine batters in the Eagles line up get on base at least once with the exception of Shane Shuba. Shuba did, however, hit a sacrifice fly to drive in one of the nine runs that the Eagles put up in that first inning. Dante Serino highlighted the first inning, getting a pair of singles and driving in a pair of runs in his two plate appearances.
While Jupiter Christian batted around again in the third inning, putting up another four runs, those nine first inning runs would prove to be all the Eagles needed. Sebastian Adriano had a big two RBI single in the fourth and finished the night 2-for-4 with two singles and three RBIs.
“I felt good and got my confidence back up tonight,” Adriano said. “I haven’t been doing that well lately but a night like tonight is a good way to build your confidence back up.”
While the offense was putting up big numbers at the plate, the pitching was shutting the Bulldogs down. Sean Farmer got the start for Jupiter Christian and pitched the first two innings, allowing no runs on just one hit.
“I felt really relaxed out there tonight,” Farmer said. “I just wanted to throw strikes and work downhill and I threw everything confidently.”
Farmer faced only eight batters in his two innings of work before giving the ball to Serino in relief. Serino pitched an inning, allowing only one batter to reach base. While Reed Burke and Shane Shuba allowed two runs each the last two innings, all four pitchers kept hits to a minimum and only allowed Berean Christian four hits total on the night.
“They all pounded the zone with strikes,” Loud said. “They attacked hitters, trusted their defense, guys made the plays behind them and that’s what we want. We want them pounding that strike zone.”
While the Bulldogs struggled on the night, they never gave up and just when you thought the game was over they continued to fight. They put up runs in the fourth and fifth, forcing Jupiter Christian to send their batters to the plate in the bottom half of the fifth to end it. The fact that they continued to fight until the end is something that Manager Dave Lawler knows his team can hold their heads high on.
“The fact that they put some runs up at the end was important for their psyche,” Lawler said. “When a kid makes a mistake most of the time they know it. They don’t need me yelling at them about it and so what I have to do is to get them to reset and re-focus on the next play. The fact that they were able to keep fighting and keep playing says a lot about their potential.”
